(September 7th) I don't often post about Albuquerque restaurants. This isn't because they aren't very good. Quite the contrary! There're a number of restaurants in Albuquerque that can hold their own against Michelin star restaurants. It's just more a matter of never taking photos while out in Albuquerque. Farina's is probably one of my favorite pizzerias in Albuquerque...Farina's and Il Vicino. Both are very good...just never something I think to put on a blog. On the 7th, though, I made an exception.
On the 7th, Kim needed to grab a quick bite to eat before heading off to the airport, so we stopped at Farina's, ordered a calzone to go for her to eat on the plane, and then saw something we couldn't resist. On the daily special was a green lentil and farro salad (you know how much I love farro by now I'm sure). The salad itself was made with organic local bell peppers, local grape tomatoes, fresh red onion, artichoke hearts, and a red wine vinegar in addition to the farro and green lentils, and it was then served in a local lemon cucumber with coppa (cured pork shoulder), Monte Veronese cheese, and butter leaf and radicchio lettuces covered with a lemon thyme vinaigrette on the side. If your mouth isn't watering by now, you're either strictly a carnivore, or not a foodie.
Coming up next, my European odyssey.
